Bureau Veritas Facilitates Consignment Based Conformity Assessment Training in Somalia

Oct. 9 2024

In a significant move to strengthen Somalia's quality infrastructure, Bureau Veritas recently conducted a training program on the Consignment Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) in Mogadishu, Somalia. The training was facilitated by Mr. Edgard Najjar, the Technical Advisor at Bureau Veritas, and was attended by the Director General of the Somalia Bureau of Standards, as well as other key delegates.

The CBCA program is a crucial initiative that aims to ensure the quality and compliance of products being imported into Somalia. By implementing this system, the Somali government can better protect its citizens from substandard or unsafe goods, while also fostering a more robust and reliable trading environment.

During the training, Mr. Najjar provided in-depth insights into the CBCA process, covering topics such as product inspection, testing, and certification. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities and discussions, enabling them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the program's implementation and its benefits for the Somali market.

The training was also attended by Mr. Ali Noor, a representative from Bureau Veritas, who provided valuable insights and support throughout the event.

The successful completion of the CBCA training in Somalia marks a significant step forward in the country's efforts to enhance its trade and consumer protection mechanisms. By leveraging the expertise of Bureau Veritas, Somalia is well-positioned to implement a robust conformity assessment system that will benefit both businesses and consumers alike.
